Acceptable Use Rules
These rules apply to every server on TidalVPS. You agree to them when you create an account. Breaking them puts our network and every other customer at risk, so we enforce them strictly.
You may not use your server for
- Spam or unsolicited email โ bulk or unsolicited email, open relays, or buying/scraping email lists.
- Phishing or fraud โ fake login pages, scam sites, or impersonating other companies.
- Malware or botnet hosting โ hosting or distributing malware, running botnet command servers.
- DDoS, flooding or network attacks โ DDoS attacks, stressers/booters, or flooding any network.
- Port scanning, brute force or hacking โ port scanning, SSH/RDP brute forcing, or breaking into other systems.
- Illegal content โ anything illegal in the US or the country your server is in, including child sexual abuse material (reported to authorities immediately).
- Copyright infringement โ distributing pirated software, films, music or other copyrighted content.
- Cryptocurrency mining โ cryptocurrency mining of any kind.
- Anything else that breaks our Terms of Service or our upstream network provider's policies.
The 3-strike policy
We monitor for abuse automatically, including spam and hacking blocks from our network provider and formal abuse complaints. Staff can also issue strikes after reviewing a report.
Serious violations such as child abuse material or large-scale attacks can lead to an immediate ban without earlier strikes. If your server was hacked and is being used without your knowledge, we suspend it to protect the network but do not issue a strike. Open a ticket and we'll help you secure it.
Outgoing email
Port 25 is blocked on new servers to stop spam. Using an email provider on ports 465 or 587 works normally. Need to run your own mail server? Open a ticket and we'll review it.
Seeing abuse from one of our IP addresses? Report it here.
Think a strike was a mistake? Open a support ticket within 14 days and a staff member will review it.
